circular ending
The story ends at the same point where it begins, however, by the time the protagonist reaches the end of the story everything is different. This ending can be used satirically to compare how things were at the beginning of the novel and how they are now at the end.
This type of ending is often used in adventure novel writing. In many of them, we are shown the life of the protagonist, which is interrupted by an event that causes him to live hundreds of adventures, but which after being overcome, make the protagonist return to his normal life and continue as if nothing had happened. Examples of this ending can be found in Jack and the Beanstalk or Alice in Wonderland.
Happy ending
After all the obstacles and tests that we subject the protagonist of our story to, he gets what he wants and his final position is better than the one he was in at the beginning.
Of all the endings to your story, this is the most common in romance novels. Although there are romantic novels with tragic endings, after a love story we expect the protagonists to ” be happy and eat partridges.” An example of this ending is fairy tales (the Disney version), Bridget Jones’s Diary or Pride and Prejudice.

In this type of ending, our hero does not get what he wants or a catastrophic event happens to teach the reader something and often serve as a moral. If your goal is to teach something to the reader, you have to be very clear about what and how you are going to present it.

Open end
You should use this type of ending if what you want is to leave unresolved questions hanging in the air or if you prefer that your readers be the ones to decide how the story ends. Cliffhanger endings are an example of open-ended types widely used in novels that are part of a series.
Ending your novel at a high point of tension will leave your readers wanting more and wanting to know what will happen next. Examples of this type of ending could be the books in the Divergent series.
Unexpected end
Endings for novels of this type are some of the ones that guarantee the most success if done well. Convincing the reader that your novel is going to end in one way and then ending it in another way (that makes sense and is related to the previous plot), will leave your reader pleasantly surprised and with a smile on their lips.
This type of ending is widely used in suspense or crime novels when the reader tries to find out who is behind a murder or crime. Examples of this type of ending could be Fight Club or Open Wounds.
